Detroit has a great live music scene, from clasical to jazz, blues, rock, and country. If you include Ann Arbor, we have one of the best live music scenes in the country. It is one of the few good things I can say about my home town.
Live Music/Concerts
Not having Memphis on this list - one of the world's great live music cities - makes the whole survey suspect.

Austin is number 2? I find that hard to believe in comparison to the other cities mentioned. Austin is great for live music, but, there's no depth or breadth to what they have to offer, especially with regard to diversity. Very one dimensional selection of entertainment. If live music is the main criteria, then if Austin is number 2 then Nashville should definitely be number 3.
